I've been given a laying spec for Marshalls Perfecta 400m conc units that has them bedded on 30mm Proprietary Modified Mortar to BS7533 Part 4 2006, then a roadbase of 90mm Cement Bound Granular Material C8/10 all on a 150mm type 1 sub base. There is no mention of any joints required for the CBGM material, not sure if they would be required and would any allowance need to be made for drainage through the CBGM material?

It all depends on the scale of the project. We wouldn't require movement joints on any pavement less than 6m in length or width, and the same applies to sub-layer drainage.

On larger projects, sub-layer drainage would only be incorporated on pavements where there is a real risk of the sub-base becoming permanently saturated.

Thanks for that Tony, guess you'll lhave already come across it but I've noticed Marshalls do a 'Trafica' variant of the perfecta flag which I understand is the same in appearance albeit fibre reinforced. I'll cross reference it with BS 7533 but for the time being the Marshalls online app appears to show this needing only 40m sand over 150mm sub base for traffic loadings up to 7.5t, although will need to look at costs of the trafica flags. Great site btw.
