We live in Scotland and had an extension built in 2017 on the side of the house which consists of a garage on the ground floor, master bedroom with en-suite on the 1st floor and more attic space on the 2nd floor.
We are now getting around to finishing the back garden before building control will sign off the extension.
The problem is our DPC is at the same level as we would like our patio to be and I have read that slabbing needs to be laid 150mm below the DPC. I’m trying to find a way that will prevent us from having to dig up the entire back garden.
Would laying a FloPlast drain level with the DPC between the exterior wall and the new slabs fix the problem and pass building control regulations? Do I need to put a membrane between the wall and the drain?
I was also wondering if it would be possible to cement along the exterior wall at an angle to divert rain splash away from the wall and run into the FloPlast drain? If so what type of cement should I use?
Still not too sure what to do regarding the back door – potentially looking to fit a door sill, small step or cement this as well (Conscious cementing at an angle there could potentially create a slipping hazard).
Would really appreciate any advice or other recommendations.
